Thanks to Claudia, we’ve been able to add in the gallery an HQ scan from the latest Entertainment Weekly issue (July 24), dedicated mostly to Comic-Con, together with an outtake from the photoshoot Caitriona and Sam did while at the EW Studios!
Caitriona is featured on W Magazine in its August issue.
While we’re still working on getting the scans, check the HQ photoshoot added in our gallery.
Edit: HQ scan is up in our gallery now.
As a model, Caitriona Balfe was well accustomed to disrobing in front of a crowd. Now that she’s an actress, playing the unabashed Claire in the wildly popular Starz show Outlander, the 35-year-old has discovered she isn’t quite as adept at being naked as she would have liked to think. “It’s a very different beast,” the Dublin native says. “As an actress, you want to be brave and go as far as you can. But sometimes, afterward, you wish you hadn’t been as brave, like when you’re watching and thinking, Oh, God.”
Based on the best-selling novels by Diana Gabaldon, the series, currently shooting its second season, follows Claire, a former World War II nurse who time-travels from 1945 to 1743 in Scotland. In the midst of political unrest, she becomes entangled with a Highlander, all while trying to return to the 20th century. Balfe was doing Margaret Thatcher impressions by the age of 4 and went on to study theater. But when she was scouted by a modeling agent at 18, the promise of international travel proved hard topass up. She doesn’t regret the detour. “I didn’t have the life experience or maturity in my 20s to bring what I can now to acting,” she says. Her next role, opposite George Clooney in Money Monster, is a PR exec for a financial company. “That was almost more alien to me than the time-traveling nurse,” she says with a laugh. “I was like, What do people do in offices all day?”
The first look of Claire and Jamie on Outlander Season 2 was revealed on current Entertainment Weekly issue, dedicated to Comic-Con. The dress of Claire is stunning, and Terry Dresbach has published another closer picture of the dress on her website terrydresbach.com.
Outlander is featured on current TV Guide issue ‘Shows to Binge Right Now’, and you can find digital scans added in our gallery donated by Colleen. Enjoy!
Added some older magazines in our gallery, back when Cait did fashion editorials, plus a most recent one talking about Outlander:
Caitriona is featured on this weekend’s New York Post, featuring a gorgeous new photoshoot. She’s talking about her career, on being ‘almost’ anonymous, her next run on cinema in a Jodie Foster film, and, of course, Outlander.
As the headstrong Claire Randall on “Outlander” — the time-traveling romance now in its second season on Starz — Caitriona Balfe headlines as a 1940s nurse suddenly transported to 18th-century Scotland (as you do). She perfectly evokes both eras, with a portrait-ready face and porcelain skin seemingly made for period costume.
Here in New York, on an April morning, Balfe (who goes by Cait) is still strikingly beautiful — but also startlingly contemporary. Of course, you don’t quite expect her to arrive in a corset, but in her Maison Margiela jeans and boots and A.P.C. trench with not a stitch of makeup on, Balfe’s effect is disorienting, a testament to how fully she has entranced fans with her portrayal of Claire.
