Press/Video/Photos: Outlander releases new video from Season 3

Written by admin on July 28 2017

It’s not quite the same as seeing the entire premiere episode at Comic-Con, but Starz has released new video from Outlander that shows key moments from the first few episodes of season 3.

In the video dubbed “Parallel Lives,” Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire Randall Fraser) provide narration as scenes of from the Culloden battle and Claire’s new life in 20th century Boston flash on the screen. Frank (Tobias Menzies) makes an appearance, as well as Brianna (Sophie Skelton), Lord John Grey (David Berry), Joe Abernathy (Wil Johnson), Jamie’s sister Jenny (Laura Donnelly), and Fergus (Romann Berrux).

On July 21, Starz premiered the entire first episode of season 3 after the show’s panel discussion at Comic-Con. You can read about it here.

Outlander premieres on Sept. 10 on Starz.

Press/Photos/Video: Outlander Season 3 Trailer Teases the Long-Awaited Print-Shop Scene

Written by admin on July 18 2017

“A. Malcolm, Printer and Bookseller.” Has there ever been a sweeter sight, Sassenachs, than the sign hanging outside an Edinburgh print shop in Outlander‘s just-released Season 3 trailer? Och, we think no. Let’s all gaze upon it for a wee second, shall we?

If you’re someone who hasn’t read Diana Gabaldon’s novels and you don’t know why this is a big deal, no worries! Skip down to where we tell you it’s safe, because there are big spoilers ahead.

Spoiler alert! If you have read the books, you know that the Carfax Close shop is the site of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) reunion after a 20-year (by way of 200 years) absence. And while we don’t see Mr. Malcolm himself in the footage, everything else in the lead-up is there. Claire’s expectant/worried face! The sign! The bell! You can all but smell the ink and the alepot inside. Such sweet torment, no? (And if you missed the scene in the trailer, make sure to go back and watch the video all the way to the end. They’re sneaky, those Starz folks.)
OK IT’S SAFE NOW, non-book-readers. The trailer also features several other scenes based on events in Gabaldon’s Voyager. As previously announced, the drama will examine how Jamie and Claire’s lives changed drastically during the years between her return to her own time and the events of the Season 2 finale. So that means we see lots of Frank in times both happy (cuddling a baby Brianna) and strained (that shot of Claire fuming while he slinks upstairs looked rough), as well as footage of Jamie being arrested upon his return to Lallbroch and his subsequent adventures with Lord John Grey, played by new cast member David Berry.

We also witness Brianna and Roger helping Claire in her search (as well as smooching a bit), as well as Jamie making significant eye contact with a woman who is not his mo nighean donn. Two decades is a long time, people!

Outlander returns Sunday, Sept. 10, at 8/7c.

Press/Video: Finally, We Have a Premiere Date for Outlander Season 3

Written by admin on July 11 2017

Get the inside info about the new episodes. Plus, an exclusive video of a very anguished Jamie and Claire.

Finally, the Outlander news you’ve been waiting for: We’re thrilled to announce that Season 3 of the STARZ time-travel romance will return Sunday, September 10. Yes, that’s right—you can now mark the end of Droughtlander in your calendar.

Thirteen new episodes devoted to Claire and Jamie will air this fall, and they’ll be based on Voyager, the third of Diana Gabaldon’s eight Outlander books.

Here’s the official season three poster, showing Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) on opposite sides of the standing stone—and in totally different centuries. Claire’s in the 1960s, having returned to her original life, and husband Frank (Tobias Menzies), while Jamie’s in the 1700s. No, you’re crying.

And here’s an exclusive live-action version of the poster, featuring a very anguished Claire and Jamie:

“You can come back to your life,” Claire muses in voiceover, “but it’s never the same. Maybe it’s enough to have gone once. How many people can say they had that?”

As for what we can expect, the new season will pick up right after Claire returns to her old life, pregnant with Jamie’s child. As for Jamie, we’ll see him at the historic battle of Culloden, fighting not only Black Jack Randall but his grief at losing Claire. The battle itself will be epic, showrunner Ronald D. Moore told ELLE.com: “I’m very excited about finally delivering Culloden to the audience after having talked about this pivotal event for so long.”

Moore also says the two are building their lives again independently: “We’re going to reset the story and the characters at the start of the season, giving the audience a window into what happened to Jamie at the battle of Culloden, as well as what happened to Claire in the twentieth century.”

What should fans be most excited about, according to Moore? “Getting to see the ways in which Jamie and Claire grew and changed over the course of their 20-year separation is a very exciting prospect.” And with Scotland, Cape Town, and even an ocean voyage to the New World (which Moore calls “a big turning point in the saga”) on the horizon, the very setting of this epic romance will change.

Of course, a reunion is definitely on the cards for our favorite time-defying lovers, though it might take a while. The only question is whether they’ll still feel the same way after so long apart. But true love never dies, right?

Press/Video: First Outlander Season 3 Trailer Reveals Claire and Jamie’s Painful Separation

Written by admin on April 16 2017

As any Outlander fan will tell you, the love story of Claire and Jamie Fraser has always been a bit star-crossed. That’s what happens when you mix romance and time travel. But Season 3 promises the rockiest road yet for the Frasers as the couple are ripped apart for what looks like a long time.

Calling in from the set in Scotland late last year, Jamie actor Sam Heughan told Vanity Fair that being apart from Balfe for part (we won’t say how long) of Season 3 was like “having a death in the family. Well, I don’t know. I mean, it’s just like a different show. It’s hard to separate yourself from the character. It’s always hard when we’re apart, actually, because she’s a great person, great to come to work with, and a very good actress. But I think it all adds to the reunion—if there’s a reunion, or when there’s a reunion—well, you know there’s one in the books. It should be very special.” Caitriona Balfe jokingly responded, “Och! He’s already killed me in his mind. Gone. Too sad.”

According to the official Starz description:

In Season Three of Outlander, the story picks up right after Claire travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank. Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?

If Claire has to be separated from her beloved Jamie, at least she can console herself with the fabulous fahsion of the 1960s. (Listen! I’m just trying to find a silver lining here.) “Probably, to the disappointment of all the costume fans, I did not miss that corset or bum roll for one second,” Balfe says of her more modern Season 3 wardrobe. “Being able to do 40s, 50s, and 60s—especially the 60s—it was just such fun. [Costume designer] Terry [Dresbach] had in racks and racks of clothing. She made some pieces in-house and other pieces are vintage finds that she had. I love what each era tells you about the women of the time—it’s just such an interesting barometer. Some of the 60s pieces are so cool and beautiful that I asked her to make me doubles of some things.”

The third season of Outlander—which will include 13 episodes based upon Voyager, the third of eight books in Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling series—will premiere in September. Fans eager to get an early taste can also catch the Outlander panel at San Diego Comic Con this summer.
